Itraconazole 1% is a broad-spectrum topical antifungal formulation used for the treatment of various superficial fungal infections of the skin. Itraconazole belongs to the triazole class of antifungal agents and works by inhibiting fungal cell membrane synthesis, specifically by blocking ergosterol production. This leads to disruption of fungal cell integrity and ultimately results in fungal cell death.
