Dabigatran Etexilate 110mg is an oral anticoagulant (blood thinner) that belongs to the class of direct thrombin inhibitors. It is widely used to prevent and treat blood clots by reducing the blood’s ability to clot. After oral administration, Dabigatran Etexilate is converted into its active form, dabigatran, which directly inhibits thrombin (factor IIa), a key enzyme in the blood coagulation process.

It is commonly prescribed for:

Prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation

Treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT)

Treatment of pulmonary embolism (PE)

Prevention of recurrent DVT and PE

Prevention of venous thromboembolism after hip replacement surgery

Compared to traditional anticoagulants like Warfarin, Dabigatran offers predictable anticoagulation with no routine INR monitoring requirement, fewer food interactions, and a rapid onset of action.
