It works by inhibiting platelet aggregation, thereby reducing the chances of clot formation in arteries. This medication is commonly prescribed to patients who have experienced heart attack, stroke, peripheral arterial disease, or those undergoing angioplasty with stent placement. Clopidogrel belongs to a class of drugs known as P2Y12 platelet inhibitors. By blocking the ADP receptor on platelets, it prevents platelets from sticking together, helping maintain smooth blood flow and reducing the risk of life-threatening thrombotic events.
