Clonidine Hydrochloride 100 mcg tablets contain clonidine, a centrally acting alpha-2 adrenergic agonist. It works by stimulating alpha receptors in the brain, which reduces sympathetic outflow from the central nervous system. This leads to a decrease in heart rate and relaxation of blood vessels, thereby lowering blood pressure. Clonidine is commonly prescribed for the management of hypertension (high blood pressure). It may also be used in certain other clinical conditions such as hypertensive urgency, attention-deficit disorders, menopausal hot flashes, and as supportive therapy in opioid withdrawal—under strict medical supervision. Clonidine Hydrochloride IP 100 mcg provides effective blood pressure control and is often used when other antihypertensive medications are not sufficient alone. Regular monitoring of blood pressure is recommended during therapy.
